Where and how are BFA illustration students taught about research and writing in their practice? In this talk we will discuss the implementation of research and writing outcomes in the PCAD Illustration program including scaffolding, resources, successes, and areas for improvement.

Caitlin Downs teaches communication, literature, and creative writing in the liberal arts department at the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design. She also serves the college as the director of the Writing Center and provides students with academic support in writing. Her specializations include poetry, rhetoric, post-colonial literature, and interdisciplinary intersections within the arts and humanities. Downs's published and exhibited works include pieces such as photographic erasure poems and historical zines.
